The Homes of Hope program, utilizes 13 scattered sites throughout the city, for the purpose of housing chronically homeless disabled families. Brighter Futures demonstrates that our model can be replicated across the country to address the rising numbers of women's homelessness. Our expansion to the Bay Area is focused on helping women reunify with their children and providing stability and structure that supports self-sufficiency. Northern CA - Brighter Futures opened in December 2018 in the City of Hayward. Our shelter program equips them with outcome-driven supportive services, life skills training and tools that assist in the attainment of self-sufficiency. Southern CA - The Sweet Dreams and Mountain View Women’s Emergency Shelters provide shelter services for homeless women and their children and single adult women respectively. In 2018, they opened their first expansion project, Brighter Futures, in the Bay Area.

We have a commitment to learning-asking questions, sharing ideas, and engaging in focused experimentation-to help create the conditions necessary for systems change. It also takes a commitment of time and patience to test new approaches and learn from them. Innovation and collaboration are essential to achieving impact at scale, be it by harnessing the potential of new technologies, joining or creating partnerships with allies with whom we share a common vision and cause, or helping to spread new ideas that start small but have the potential for making a big change.Ĭreating lasting solutions to systemic problems is an inherently messy process that requires both empathy and imagination.
Key to our work is an acknowledgement that no one organization or sector (private, public, or nonprofit) has all the answers to, or ownership of, systemic problems. Our aim is to work together to design, innovate or shift policies and institutions to better serve people and the planet, and we believe this process requires us to remain curious, humble, and ready to learn. The behaviour of complex systems is emergent and unpredictable, entailing many little-understood relationships. Systems are interconnected wholes, and working from this perspective emphasizes relationships between people, sectors and organizations. Any complex problem requiring attention is rooted in a system or multiple overlapping systems.
