Butyl tape can also be used to join panels of vapor barrier together by overlapping the seams and applying the tape between the layers. It is a non-hardening and flexible and creates a waterproof seal. Butyl rubber tape is used to seal the vapor barrier to the foundation walls.
Butyl Tape: Butyl tape is an aggressive reinforced double sided tape. If the installation has a lot of piers or columns you will need more tape. Typical installations need 1 roll of bond tape per every 1000 square feet. Cold temperatures can harden the adhesive and make it difficult to stick. Tape bonds in a wide range of temperatures but it is recommended the tape be in room temperature until ready to use. Vapor Bond Tape: Vapor tape bonds to most surfaces creating a waterproof seal and clean appearance. Soil compatibility: clay, sand, dirt, mud, rocky soil or soil with tree roots, large rocks and broken concrete UV inhibitors and thermal stabilizers added for extended outdoor lifespan. Great for commercial applications where a heavy-duty liner is required. 20 mil White Crawl Space Liner: 20 mil white (on both sides) crawl space liner is the thickest liner with the highest puncture resistance rating in this offering. (Note: antimicrobial additive is not topically applied, it is mixed in the resin so it is non-migratory) Soil compatibility: clay, sand, dirt, mud, rocky soil or soil with tree roots and slightly larger rocks Great for use on the walls and the ground in crawl spaces, storage areas and root cellars. It is non-toxic and environmentally safe. 12 mil Antimicrobial Crawl Space Liner/Barrier: 12 mil antimicrobial liner has antimicrobial additives to help prevent the growth of harmful bacteria, fungi, mold, mildew, and algae on or around the liner. Soil compatibility: clay, sand, dirt, mud, rocky soil or soil with tree roots and slightly larger rocks When barriers are installed on the walls and floors in this manner it provides great protection to use the crawl space as a root cellar or for storage. 8 and 12 mil Black/White Crawl Space Liner/Barrier: the 8 mil black/white liner is often used on walls and the 12 mil or 20 mil white liner is often used on floors.
